artist + architect + designer

ZBCN Design Studio (坐北朝南工作室) is founded by Emma Yimeng Zhu, an artist, an architect, as well as a designer. ZBCN functions primarily as a collaborative tool to connect artists and friends through projects, events, and exhibitions. The studio is currently based between Boston and Beijing.

Emma Yimeng Zhu (朱艺蒙), from Beijing, China, has graduated in 2021 from MIT with a Master of Science in Art, Culture, and Technology. She received her bachelor’s degree in architecture from Cornell University in 2019. Emma has a strong interest in the parasitic and endocytosed relationship between human body and architectural space. Through a diverse range of media, Emma investigates the elasticity of this relationship. Her works often highlight the interdisciplinary moments across art, architecture, and technology.
